Latvian experimental musician and artist Waterflower released their latest single and music video, "Dawning." It is the fourth single from Waterflower’s album "Balta Gaisma" (Eng. - "White Light"), which was nominated for two 2021 Latvian Golden Microphone awards in the categories of "Best Experimental or Alternative Music Album" and "Best Album Design."
The accompanying song in the video is about nature awakening and coming to life while yearning to communicate in its own language, specifically through the water. Waterflower use the capacitive differences they measure in plants and mushrooms to give these quiet living things a "voice" when creating mushroom music and plant music.
The music video was completed during Kino Euphoria 2022 in Helsinki but was initially inspired by the patterns in the footage that Laima Graždanoviča and Anna Grinčuka shot in Latvia.
Waterflower is the alter-ego of artistic polymath Sabine Moore. They challenge normality and explore the act of presenting femininity with their self-produced avant-pop that could equally be exhibited in an art gallery or discovered at an underground club. Last summer Waterflower released funghi inspired song with a futuristic music video.
