Enjoy a musical evening with Carnival Youth, Alise Joste, Elvi Soulsystems and DJ PUPA

Totaldobže Art Centre invites you to the concert of the famous Latvian band Carnival Youth and musician Alise Joste. It will take place on April 29th in the former Riga Technical University Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Transport and Aeronautics, Viskaļu Street 36. Tickets here.

The concert will begin with Alise Joste – a musician and songwriter from Riga. Alise is well-known in the Latvian music scene for more than 10 years. Alice will perform songs from the latest award-winning album "Šākāta" and the best songs from her three previous full-length solo albums.

The band Carnival Youth combines melodicity and youthful melancholy with the energy of alternative and indie rock. Since 2012 the band has released six albums. The last two years the band has been playing Latvian cinema music in a concert program called “Naivais ku-kū”, but this year Carnival Youth is returning to their original music and is currently developing a new program.

Take a look at how they recently welcomed sunrise with beautiful music in support for Ukraine here and learn more about the band by watching our interview:

The event will feature DJ sets by Elvi Soulsystems and DJ PUPA, which will take you through a musical and rhythmic journey.

Always managing to exist on the very fringes of the current state of the so called dance music culture in Riga, Elvi Soulsystems has been performing for something like two decades now. This is a balancing act between not being afraid of flirtation with broad audiences, accessibility on the one hand and sheer, uncompromising integrity on the other. Over time his ability to surprise an audience in any given setting has not wavered. The definitive wild card of the scene he always holds the tension of the opposites – light and dark, heavy and easy, loud and barely audible.

Even longer than playing music, he has been making it – be it on his own as Elvi or within collaborative projects like ELVI/DUNIAN. As a curator he’s been a part of the development of the more gritty part of the Latvian scene – from heading club One One Riga to co-creating the klik klak series, House Purgatorio. Since 2020 he has also started a record label called _too contemporary releasing his own music and that of enigmatic artists without a definitive location of origin.

DJ PUPA likes to experiment with different styles of electronic music, exploring each form of sound and tracks, carefully threading a joint journey for all of his listeners. You'll experience far away lands with different and exciting directions as well as rediscover genres that are close to your heart and mind. Dive in PUPA's set and you'll be floating in the sea of minimal & deep tech waves and enchanting pulses of trippy dark tunes.

PUPA (real name Kristaps Daņiļevičs) likes to both participate and be part of the DJ scene. If Riga's nightlife is not a stranger to you, you have probably heard him in some of the local bars and clubs, as well as festivals - Teritorija, One One Riga, Autentika,KKC, Weekend Baltic Festival, and LMA Carnival, to name a few. His side project now is organizing a series of Basa Kāja events, as well as organizing a series of private events called “Filter”.
