Riga Jazz Stage award ceremony on 9 April at “Splendid Palace”
Saturday promises to be full of excitement not only for the audience, but young jazz musicians as well – it`s Riga Jazz Stage laureates concert and awarding.
In the first part the laureates will be announced in categories “Jazz Vocal” and “Jazz Trombone”. You`ll see performances of laureates, special jury surprises and more.
Second part is going to be the performance of American jazz performer, international competition laureate Charenee Wade. Charenee has all the values a new jazz performer has to have. Her career started with visiting jazz masterclasses and participating in singing competitions. Her perseverance and talent let her take second place in Thelonious Monk Institute`s vocalist competition. She has also performed at prestigious Jazz at Lincoln Center stage.
Hip hop performer GUF in Tallinn on 10 April
GUF is Russian rapper, hip hop performer, co-founder and member of the band Centr. He`s the founder of label ZM Nation, and is also one of the founders of “CAO Records”. GUF has won RMA, Rock Alternative Music Prize and other awards.
Deep, witty lyrics and peculiar manner of reading has become GUF`s trademark, and this is also combined with his strong energy. His popularity allows others to call him one of the best rappers in Russian hip hop scene.
GUF will perform on 10 April at Tallinn`s Rock Cafe. Doors open at 19:00.
I Love You sessions with “Irving Ark”
“Irving Ark” is Latvian indie band. In the band plays Kristaps Talbergs, Marcis Jukumsons-Jukumnieks, Kaspars Niklasons, Krisjanis Bremss and Sandris Sirants.
About two years ago Kristaps Talbergs started exchanging messages and musical ideas with Marcis Jukumsons-Jukumnieks, who then studied music in London. This is how “Irving Ark” was born.
Last summer, with the help of producer Kristofers Hariss (Bear’s Den, Matthews and the Atlas, Smoke Fairies, Clock Opera), the band began work on their debut EP in Latvian.
