Tomorrow’s Music, Arts And Ideas captured in TMW 2020 design
Anticipation for exciting times ahead is taking over with our new design by Estonian creative agency AKU.
The new design captures TMW’s experimental yet cohesive nature in constantly evolving and changing elements. The versatility of the “tomorrow’s music, arts and ideas” festival and its constant need to kick convention are envisioned in playful interactive elements that help the visitors to find their paths in the programme. The attracting and ascending particles, resembling futuristic insects, oceans and forests, form a festival environment, where each particle adds its value to the whole.
The prevalent yellow, black and gray colour scheme creates a stimulating feel, reminiscent of iconic industrial design yet echoing the possibilities of the Music Industry 2.0 and more sustainable future. Colour gradient adds depth and time perspective, guiding us through the festival’s activities from luminous daylight to the shadows of the night.
Over 1300 artists applied to play at the next edition of Tallinn Music Week festival.
The artist application round that ran from the end of October until midnight on 1st December resulted in 1323 submissions from 63 countries. The top 3 countries of residence of applicants are Estonia, Russia and for the first time in the festival’s history the UK.
TMW 2020 line-up will be selected from the applicants by a broad-based team of Estonian and international curators. The line-up will be announced in February 2020. The festival will take place from 26th to 28th March 2020 mainly in North Tallinn with central hubs in Telliskivi Creative City and Port Noblessner, among them some of the brand new exciting venues like the photographic art centre Fotografiska Tallinn, Proto Discovery Factory and art centre Kai.
The TMW conference, taking place at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) from 27th to 28th March 2020, addresses topics like “Music 2.0: The future of the music industry” and Sustainable Development Goals, including civic engagement, and human-centred, inclusive and equitable development. The first speakers and panels of the conference will be announced in coming weeks.
