One of the last decade’s most successful bands “The xx” will perform in Vilnius, Lithuania on December 3rd! The band is ready to tour again after a three-year pause. Tickets to the show are on sale from today!
Winners of the prestigious “Mercury” award “The xx” for the first time will perform in Lithuania on December 3 at the Vilnius concert hall “Compensa”. The band will play their best hits as well as new material from their long-awaited third studio album.
Also, “The xx” have been confirmed as headliners for the “Lollapalooza” festival.
“The xx” formed in 2005 in London and its members are guitarist Romy Madley Croft, bassist and vocal Oliver Sim and producer Jamie Smith xx.
The group released its debut album “xx” in August 2009. The album was not only a commercial success but was also highly recognized by critics. The album was ranked highly on many “best of 2009” lists, including number one on the list compiled by “The Guardian” and second for NME.
In 2010, the band won the “Mercury Music Prize” for its debut album “xx”. Later, in 2011, “The xx” was nominated for “Best British Album”, “Best British Breakthrough” and “Best British Band” at the 2011 BRIT Awards held on 15th of February, 2011 at the O2 Arena in London.
Their second album “Coexist” was released on 10th of September, 2012 and was sold in 2,5 million copies worldwide. Later on all participants of the band focused on their solo projects, but now the long-awaited third studio album is in process and will be released in the nearest future.
A Norwegian singer, composer, lyricist and writer Jenny Hval will be opening for “The xx”. She has released already five albums with a pseudonym Rockettothesky and three albums with her real name. Jenny Hval is also a recognized writer, her story “Perlebryggeriet” was published in 2009.
