The annual city festival “Piena svētki” will happen on 19th and 20th of August this year at the territory of the café “Piens” in Riga, Latvia. Its theme is “Far from space”, but one of the first announced headliner acts is a new musical programme by SHIPSEA (Jānis Šipkēvics of artpop act “Instrumenti”).
The newly made programme “ImKa. Shipsea. Nepāriet” is based on songs by the legendary Latvian composer Imants Kalniņš. New versions of these famous songs are made by SHIPSEA and they will be performed by him alongside a band of creative musicians – Alise Joste, Evija Vēbere, Iļja Lagutenko, Ksenija Zaķe, Lenarts Heindelss, Lorete Medne, Matīss Čudars, Miķelis Putniņš, Rūdolfs Dankfelds, Vladislavs Nastavševs and Zelma Jēgere.
This year the line-up of the festival also includes such bands as “100 baltas dvēseles” and “Ezeri”, hip-hop performer ansis and a piano concert “Filips Glāss. Etīdes” by Jānis Ozoliņš. More artists will be announced soon.
Many other events such as theatre plays and contemporary circus performances will also happen during the festival. Entrance is free of charge and “Piena svētki” is a family-friendly event.
