Every year, Positivus Festival is becoming more and more popular in Europe, as well as in an international level. Foreign media constantly highlight Positivus Festival due to its light and friendly atmosphere, Salacgrīva’s wonderful nature, as well as absolutely great music.
This year Positivus festival is not the only one celebrating a special anniversary – the Latvian Radio Big Band orchestra is turning 50 while the Maestro is honored at his 80th anniversary. Adding to these significant and historical events Ralfs Eilands’ energy and passion, the widely known and loved songs by Raimonds Pauls with its unique, yet universal message will be able to inspire and move also people from different generations, cultures and nations.
The reborn Big Band has introduced itself as a great performer in the concert together with world-known vocalist Kurt Elling. The next concert was held in Latvian National Opera with Italian virtuoso vocalist Roberta Gambarini. Performing in other concerts as well, including one dedicated to the anniversary of the great Latvian poet Imants Ziedonis, Latvian Radio Bigband continued with a special program together with Jojo Mayer and vocal group New York Voices.
Soulful and emotional understanding of popular music genres once brought the singer Joss Stone to the tops of British music charts and fairly gave her the title of “sensation of the decade”. Soft melodies, expressive performance along with impressive vocal technique made Stone one of the most listened to artists in the UK. Stone got in the spotlight of fame already at the teenager years and she has proved her musical talent also later on – it is not a coincidence that she has received two of prestige BRIT Awards prizes, including one as the best female solo artist; several Grammy nominations and one Grammy Award as well as other awards that are highly respected in the music world.
Positivus Festival is the largest music and arts festival in the Baltic States that takes place every year at Salacgrīva Fishermen’s Park, will be held on 15, 16, and 17 July in 2015.
