Latvian band “Kayro” have released their 6-track debut EP “Strangest Times“, which was recorded in the second half of 2019 during the global pandemic, as a conversation with oneself about the changes in life, isolation and the search for the new “I”.
“I think that during this time all of us have discovered something new about ourselves, resumed doing forgotten things or found the strength to give up some bad habits despite the daily difficulties and a little incomprehensible way of life” – comments Kārlis.
Kayro was founded in late 2019 by guitarists Ritvars Sreibers and Karlis Steinmanis. In early 2020 they were joined by vocalist Reinis Rutkovskis and bassist Agnis Beitans to start writing the band’s debut EP “Strangest Times”. Kayro is defined by energetic and emotionally charged vocals and hard hitting instrumental performances influenced by modern rock, metal and pop.
The EP was recorded and produced by “Kayro” themselves under the direction of Kārlis Šteinmanis. The recording of the drums was made together with the master drummer Andrejs Upmacis in the premises of Sound Division Studios, but all the other material was recorded both in Kārlis’ private studio and at the home of each member of the band based on possibilities.
Even now the band is actively working on writing their next album set to be released in 2022, but the forerunners of the album will be available already at the end of this summer.
