Following this summer’s massive European summer stadium tour and the upcoming fall tour of North America, Depeche Mode will continue to extend the Global Spirit Tour with the show in Riga, Latvia on February 20, 2018 and in Vilnius, Lithuania on February 22, 2018. The experimental union BLACK LINE will be opening both shows.
BLACK LINE is a Los Angeles based IDM project. The band is an experiment with a collaborative approach. With a small core team, each track represents a moment in time, constantly evolving in both style and collaborators. Using both the most high tech systems and low tech means to capture a unique sound through its recording process. With their first release “Treason, Sedition, and Subversive Activities” in Summer 2017, BLACK LINE continues to define its signature sound.
The core team features songwriter and front-man Douglas J McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb), producers Zack Meyers and Cyrus Rex, mix engineer Ken “hiwatt” Marshall (Skinny Puppy), and Bon Harris (Nitzer Ebb). BLACK LINE took a collaboration heavy approach to writing which featured contributions from several established artists. The result is their genre bending debut album Treason, Sedition, and Subversive Activities.
The Global Spirit Tour supports Depeche Mode’s 14th studio album, Spirit, released in March via Columbia Records. The album’s powerful and timely first single, Where’s The Revolution, has been well-received by critics and fans alike, lauded as a strong “return to form” for Depeche Mode. Spirit has already garnered critical acclaim, with MOJO calling it “blow by blow…Depeche Mode’s best album in years.”
