The IMPALA Campus workshops are for recorded music professionals and self-releasing artists at the start of or at a crossroads in their careers. Participants will receive high level training by music industry experts on key industry topics. The main objective of the IMPALA Campus is to help young European artists and music professionals acquire the business skills and knowledge which will help them strengthen and advance their careers in the music sector.
Run by IMPALA, the European association of independent music companies, and co-funded by the EU under the Music Moves Europe framework, the IMPALA Campus is taking place across four workshops in partnership with leading European music conferences in the Spring/Summer 2021.
Ten participants will be selected for each workshop, with two of them chosen for follow-up mentoring sessions. The topics and trainers vary from one workshop to another. Participation in the workshops is completely free, and all participants will get access to the partner conference corresponding to the workshop they attend.
IMPALA Campus digital workshops are organised in partnership with four different music festivals and conferences.
IMPALA Campus kicked off on Tuesday, April 6th with the first digital workshop, in partnership with Westway LAB.
The first workshop covered following topics:
Overview of the music industry ecosystem, Copyright & Neighbouring Rights, Distribution, Digital Marketing, Brand Partnerships.
The second IMPALA Campus digital workshop will be taking place on Thursday, 6th of May, in partnership with Tallinn Music Week. Applications close on 21st April at midnight CET, and the results will be communicated to applicants on 23rd April.
The second workshop will cover following topics:
Merchandising, Data Insights, Overview of the Music Industry Ecosystem, Digital Marketing, Access to Funding. Participation in the workshop is completely free and participants also get free access to our partner’s conference.
The third workshop is taking place on Monday 17th May, in partnership with Mastering the Music Business. Applications close on 3rd May at midnight CET, and the results will be communicated to applicants on 5th May.
The third workshop will cover following topics:
Merchandising, Brand Partnerships, Overview of the Music Industry Ecosystem, Data Insights, Digital Marketing. Participation to the workshop is completely free and participants also get free access to our partner’s conference.
The fourth and final IMPALA Campus digital workshop is taking place on Tuesday 8th June, in partnership with MENT. Applications close on 24th May at midnight CET, and the results will be communicated to applicants on 26th May.

In very workshop, based on a number of criteria, including their level of engagement in the workshops, two participants will be selected for a follow-up mentoring session with industry professional Michael Fuller which will take place in the days or weeks following the particular workshop.
Michael Fuller is a UK-based entertainment lawyer and music business consultant, will deliver one-to-one mentoring sessions tailored to meet the needs of selected participants. Based on his in-depth experience of the music business, he will offer career advice and guidance to the mentees to help them achieve their aspirations and overcome specific challenges.
Westway LAB is Portugal’s first showcase festival, featuring a PRO conference and artistic residencies yielding unique performances. The four-day festival takes place in Guimarães, Portugal’s birthplace city, in the amazing Vila Flor Cultural Centre (CCVF) as well as other venues. Launched in 2014, Westway LAB is now heading into its eighth edition, which will take place digitally 7-10 April 2021.
Tallinn Music Week (TMW) is one of the most acclaimed new music and city culture festivals and key networking events for music and creative industry professionals across Europe, held annually in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn, since 2009. The festival consists of three main programme parts: a music festival, conference and city festival.
This year’s edition of Tallinn Music Week will take place 9-13 June 2021 in a hybrid format, enabling both online and onsite participation and activities.
Mastering the Music Business, the leading music conference and showcase festival in Romania, is dedicated to all independent artists and professionals in the music industry. At MMB key professionals from the local & international music business and related industries come together to discuss various relevant topics. Successful artists and business professionals spanning the entire music ecosystem exchanging know-how and ideas under the same roof.
The 6th edition is taking place in a hybrid format, on and offline, August 31st to September 2nd 2021.
MENT is a three-day showcase festival of fresh artists from all of Europe and beyond, during which around 70 acts perform at different venues in Ljubljana. The international conference focuses on the music industry and creativity. In 2017, MENT was the BEST INDOOR & BEST SMALL FESTIVAL according to the European Festival Awards. The festival focuses on local, regional and Eastern European scene, yet hosts bands from all over Europe and the same goes for music professionals.
The 7th edition is taking place in Ljubljana on 9-11 June 2021.
