Rainer Ild is an alternative duo from Estonia who stands out with their unique vocal effects and meaningful songwriting. On stage, they swap between instruments because, c’mon, there is only two of them.
Despite that they still managed to win the biggest youth band competition in Estonia “Noortebänd” which gave them the opportunity to play as support acts for a lot of big Estonian artists and also to perform at the Estonian Music Award Gala. Now, almost two years have passed from their debut album and they are hinting that the second album is coming soon.
One hint that the second album is on its way is that recently, at the end of august, Rainer Ild released two video singles what describe colourfully what is going through their singers mind. The songs carry the names “disguise” and “sorry doesn’t seem to cut it”.
In the music video of “disguise” the band show what they have been feeling for a long time and they also show the raw new energy they have discovered in theirselves.
Rainer, the singer of the band, talks about the new songs: “The songs talk about death – not because I want to die or I love the idea of death but because I’m afraid of it.“
With “sorry doesn’t seem to cut it” duo faced a lot of firsts. For Example it was the first time where they didn’t use vocals for a chorus and for the first time the vocals were not sang into a professional microphone in a studio – he sang the vocals into his phone and believe it or not it is what you hear on the recording now.
