“Sunset Festival”, which started with great success and responsiveness in Sigulda will now expand to include Lithuania next summer. Festival concept remains the same – one-day performances from well-known artists of different genres. Separate concerts will be happening in different dates and venues. The key is a unique architectural place with an extraordinary feel to it.
In this festive time of the year Lithuanian “Sunset Festival” is announcing its first artists – American alternative rock band Evanescence who will perform on the 21st of June in Trakai Castle.
Grammy, MTV, WMA, Kerrag! And a line of other prizewinners, whose records have been sold in more than 25 million copies, will perform the only show in Baltics in the special atmosphere of Trakai Castle.
Evanescence was formed in 1995 in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. Origin is their first demo album recorded, but in 2003 their first full-length debut album Fallen is made, which received several platinum awards in a number of states and brings the band 2 Grammy prizes. It sold in total more than 17 million debut album copies; videos for mega hits Bring Me To Life, My Immortal and Going Under was watched hundreds of millions times on YouTube.
Their second album The Open Door (2006) was successful enough. It sold more than 6 million copies and added such wonderful hits as Call Me When You’re Sober and Lacrymosa to world’s music. The last one is inspired by V.A.Mocart’s unfinished composition Rekviem.
The third album by Evanescence was released in 2011. Finally the newest (released in the end of November) – The Ultimate Collection – is a compilation of 6 vinyls which concludes the list of band’s official albums, unreleased songs and newest studio composition Even In Death (2016).
Lead vocalist – 35 years old Amy Lee (just celebrated her birthday on the 13th of December) – is the band’s “face” for more than 20 years, but she has actively engaged in other bands and projects too, for example, Korn and Seether (performed in Palladium concert hall in December 2014).
The talented girl was born in 1981 in California, in a family of Dj John Lee and TV personality Sarah Cargill. She got her education in a private school and was playing the piano for ten years. Later the rising star joined the University of Tennessee, but the success of Evanescence interrupted her studies and she did’t graduate.
In an interview Amy said that she wrote her first song when she was 11 years old and all her life dreamt about a career as a classical music composer.
In 2007 Amy got married to her friend psychotherapist Josh Hartzler and they have a 2-year-old son Jack Lion. Always so bright and noticeable Amy Lee believes that the key of her success is combination of gothic make-up and clothes from the times of Queen Victoria. She designs the stage costumes herself because she can’t find anything she would want to wear in shops.
Ticket sales will start on the 21st of December in “Biļešu serviss” network and www.bilesuserviss.lv.
