Dramamama is an Estonian rock group, reminiscent of the 60s, 70s British-wave blues-rock scene. Since their formation in 2008, they have performed extensively all over Estonia, among others warming up such well known names as Rival Sons & Von Hertzen Brothers. Their eponymous debut album “DRAMAMAMA” was released in 2009, second album “VIP” in March, 2012.
After a 5-year long distance relationship with the bands guitarist Laur Joamets (who moved to the States in 2013 to play in the Grammy-winning Sturgill Simpson’s band, now in Drivin N’ Cryin), the other three members of an Estonian rock quartet Dramamama – Mikk Tammepõld, Viljar Norman and Ott Adamson – packed their gear and flew to Nashville for a recording session in October 2018. They recorded eight proper rock tracks at Loud Recording Studio with the help of engineer Jake Burns. Dramamama’s third album was released on April 21, 2020.
“The journey from the studio to our listeners was quite long with this album but we are really happy with the final result,” says the frontman of Dramamama, Mikk Tammepõld. “We learned a lot recording in the States, got some tips and tricks for the future. The main message of “Uphill Battle” is not to give up – it fits very well in the current period.”
Dramamama was formed in 2008 by guitarist Laur Joamets & singer Mikk Tammepõld who then recruited bassist Viljar Norman & drummer Kristjan Kallas. In 2011 drummer Ott Adamson joined the band. Previously Dramamama has released two albums “Dramamama” (2009) ja “VIP” (2012). They have won over the hearts of many Rock & Blues fans in Estonia and abroad with their authentic vintage sound, melodic hooks and virtuous playing.
Distinctive quitar sound of Joamets, together with heavy drums and melodic bass lines from Ott Adamson and Viljar Norman respectively, topped with strong vocals of the frontman Mikk Tammepõld form an enjoyable combination of classic rock and modern production.
Special treat for all the melomans out there – the album is available on VINYL as well.
