Erica Jennings presents her new album

Yesterday Erica Jennings presented her solo album “Leading Me Home” and this mini-video explains how she came to writing the album and the journey she took in order to do so. It’s been 18 months in the making but it took much longer emotionally.

There are many reasons why we bury pain and fear. But emotions that are buried, never disappear. It began with loss. At 13, I lost friends in car crashes, illness and suicide. I’ve fought against many causes through music: But I never fought for myself. Afraid of imperfection, I let others speak. When my pale skin and freckles drew negative attention I hid the pain. Hurt by love, I built a tall tower and hid away my heart.

While writing this album the past resurfaced, asking for recognition. It’s been a journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance and understanding human behaviour. Failure, pain and anxiety – no longer scare me – I know, they cannot and will not destroy me. Without imperfection, there is no space for growth.

I came home.

Back to my true self.
