Kaunas Art Book Fair successfully debuted last year and added new ideas to the Lithuanian art field. This year it returns and invites publishers, bookstores and artists to register for the second edition that will take place on OCTOBER 2 – 4.

Kaunas Art Book Fair is an event that creates value for the content and design of an art book and promotes networking. The fair focuses exclusively on the culture of art publishing, building a new community, maintaining an existing one as well as initiating global trends in Lithuania.

Kaunas Art Book Fair was launched last year as a new initiative in Kaunas’ art field – it’s first ever art book fair – with an ambition to establish Kaunas and Lithuania as an important node for discoveries and networking within the international map of publishing.

The fair combined several approaches that represented and analysed the publishing processes. Publishers, artists, collectors, bookshops, and other initiatives from Lithuania and abroad were invited to present and distribute their publications at the event. During the fair, there were a variety of book exhibitions, lectures, presentations, book signing sessions, discussions and workshops about bookmaking.

The OPEN CALL for this year’s Kaunas Art Book Fair has been announced and it is open from August 5 till August 20, where publishers, artists, collectors, bookshops and other initiatives from Lithuania and abroad are invited to present and distribute their publications. APPLY HERE!

The Kaunas Art Book Fair initiative belongs to Kaunas Photography Gallery and Bookstore Six Chairs Books who aim to activate the field of art publishing, raise questions about the content and design value of artistic publications and mark Kaunas and Lithuania as an important point of discovery and networking. By creating a platform for meeting and dialogue at this two day event, the Kaunas Art Book Fair seeks to grow and foster community for both art books’ readers and publishers.

The mission of this project is to grow and nurture the community of readers, viewers, publishers and creators of art books in Lithuania by providing a platform for meeting and dialogue with the general public.

The vision is to become a major art publishing event in the Baltic region.
